Overview
This is a representative spring festival in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, which combines nature and culture, held to coincide with the blooming season of the Chamkkot (azalea) colonies at the summit of Biseulsan Mountain. Since its inception in 1997, it has promoted the local identity centered on the 'Chamkkot,' the symbol of Dalseong-gun, and has established itself as a leading cultural tourism festival visited by people from all over the country every April. Biseulsan is a high-altitude area over 1,000m above sea level, featuring the largest azalea colony in Korea, spanning approximately 300,000 pyeong around the summit. In spring, the entire mountain creates a spectacular view as it turns pink. Based on this outstanding natural landscape, the festival is operated even more richly through various programs that allow visitors to experience the value of nature and combine it with culture and arts, timed with the blooming of the azaleas.
