Overview
Traditional cultural events, including the Namsan Beacon Mound Ritual, are hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to recreate communication methods from the Joseon Dynasty, promoting our unique traditional culture to citizens and domestic and international tourists while providing opportunities to enjoy culture. The Namsan Beacon Mound was a vital communication tool during the Joseon Dynasty, serving as the final collection point for signals sent from beacon mounds across the country to alert the capital city of the situation. Visitors can watch the Namsan Beacon Mound Ritual and listen to historical commentary at the site. Additionally, the Bosingak Belfry Citizen Bell-Ringing Ceremony, held daily at noon, is a participatory event for citizens and tourists. At the Namsan Seoul Tower Octagonal Pavilion Plaza, visitors can enjoy Samulnori performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations. Other programs, such as the one-day Gyeongjeomgwan (timekeeper) experience and the one-day beacon keeper experience, are also available.
