Overview
The Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Fortress Festival is a historical and cultural festival held at the Jeolla Byeongyeongseong Fortress in Byeongyeong-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do. It is based on the historical background of the fortress, which served as the military headquarters overseeing Jeolla-do and Jeju-do during the Joseon Dynasty. Because the festival takes place using the actual fortress walls and ruins of Jeolla Byeongyeongseong, which served as a military facility for approximately 500 years, visitors can vividly experience the atmosphere of a Joseon-era military camp. During the festival, various programs such as traditional costume experiences, reenactments of soldier training, and traditional performances are operated, allowing visitors to naturally experience the life and culture of that time. Furthermore, through events spread along the fortress walls and various hands-on activities, it is characterized as an interactive festival where visitors can go beyond simple observation and actively participate and enjoy.
